Furthermore, the organization reserves itself the right to change the format of the event under a Force Majeure event in order to attempt to create the necessary conditions for the event to take place. INTRODUCTION
TRITON is a triathlon global series offering two live race formats and a digital / indoor series.
TRITON 3, is a triathlon in a stage like format, taking place across 3 consecutive days, always in the same sequence, swim, bike and run.
TRITON 1 is a triathlon in a regular one-day format.
The digital / indoors series is currently under development, and it aims to facilitate and introduce
triathlon to a much larger audience across the globe.
TRITON’s history is its own from day one, we don’t copy, we transform, we innovate, we don’t follow, we lead.
We focus on delivering amazing races to triathletes but also to swimmers, cycling enthusiasts, runners, endurance sports athletes, and people in general, looking for new formats to challenge themselves.
TRITON series comes together at the annual world finals event.
Both TRITON race formats will qualify for the finals.
TRITON GLOBAL GENERAL COMPETITION RULES
TRITON continuously works towards global rule harmonization. The Competition Rules govern all TRITON race competitions and are based primarily on TRITON’s series particular set of rules and the World Triathlon Competition Rules; therefore, differences in the rules do exist.
Within certain sections of the Competition Rules (e.g., the rules regarding TRITON 3 points system) TRITON may adhere, or not, to and/or reference the applicable World Triathlon Competition Rules.
Notwithstanding, in the event of any conflict or inconsistency between TRITON’s Competition Rules and the World Triathlon Competition Rules, such conflict or inconsistency shall be resolved by giving precedence to the TRITON Competition Rules.
PURPOSE:
To provide a consistent set of competition rules (“Competition Rules”) for all TRITON branded race competitions.
INTENTION:
Competition Rules are intended to:
(a) Facilitate fair play, equality, and sportsmanship;
(b) Support ingenuity and skill without unduly limiting athletes; and
(c) Penalize athletes who gain, or seek to gain, an unfair advantage.
RACE PERSONNEL DEFINITIONS
(a) “Event Director” or “Race Director” is the person appointed to be in charge of the Event;
(b) “Global Director of Competition” is the person appointed to supervise rules and officiating for all Races;
EXCEPTIONS:
(a) Competition Rules may vary from venue to venue due to certain sanctioning requirements, laws, local ordinances, and/or Racecourse surroundings;
(b) Event-specific Athlete Information Guides will provide further guidance to athletes and will specifically address any Competition Rule exceptions (if any) for each Event venue.
COMPETITION AND RACE FORMATS:
TRITON currently hosts two distinctive live race formats, TRITON 1 and TRITON 3. Both formats are part of the same World Series, and both qualify for the TRITON World Finals.
The world finals currently take place in the 3 days race format, TRITON 3, only.
The finals host all three distances, SHORT, MIDDLE, and LONG, female and male individual divisions by age group, and general classification, and, both female only teams competition and teams competition (male only or mixed).
In the future TRITON may host separate world finals for both TRITON 1 and TRITON 3.
TRITON 1:
Is a one-day competition in a regular triathlon format, swim, bike and run, always in this sequence and without stoppage of the clock. The winner is the first to cross the finish line at the end of the run segment (or the athlete with the shortest time – when start is done in waves).
All TRITON 1 races have 3 distances, called, SHORT, MIDDLE, LONG. Each distance is a separate competition with its own separate results.
All TRITON 1 races are non-drafting races. All bikes, as long as within the traffic codes and legislation are accepted.
All TRITON 1 races have the following competing divisions:
TRITON 3:
Is a 3-day competition in a stage like triathlon format, swim, bike and run, always in this sequence, and taking place over 3 consecutive days, swim on day one, bike on day two and run on day three.
The winner is decided by a point scoring system in which the athlete that finishes first has 1 point, the second place 2 points, third 3 points and so on until the last finisher.
At the end of the 3 days of competition, the athlete with less points wins the race. In case of a points thigh at the end of the 3 days, the deciding factor is the run, wins the athlete with the best run result.
All TRITON 3 races have 3 distances, called SHORT, MIDDLE, LONG. Each distance is a separate competition with all specific results.
All TRITON 3 races are draft legal races. Therefore, time-trial bikes, or road bikes with extensions (also called, clip-ons) are NOT allowed. All bikes, as long as within the traffic codes and legislation are accepted.
All TRITON 3 races have the following competing divisions:
TRITON 3 BY SPORT COMPETITION:
TRITON 3 allows for athletes to register individual for each race, the swim, the bike and the run-in whatever distance they choose.
After the race starts, no changes in divisions or distances are permitted. You must finish the race in the same division and competition that you started. Failure to finish will result on a DNF (did not finish sigla on the results page. Failure to start (no-show) will result on a DNS (did not start sigla on the results page).
THE FINISH-LINE:
The finish-line is the final reward, a unique moment where a long journey comes to an end, only to start a new one.
This journey however, more often than not, has more than one protagonist, as often families are involved and sacrifice their share to allow the finisher athlete to train and to make this moment possible, as such, TRITON believes that crossing the finish-line is a moment that should be shared in such cases, or if you are racing in a team.
CROSSING THE FINISH-LINE RULES:
TRITON allows for a max of three teammates (teams competition) or two family members to cross the finish-line together with the athlete, however, athletes crossing the finish-line with family members must make sure no other athlete is coming to the finish-line at the same time, and that their moment does not interfere with any other athlete’s special moment.
If there are other athletes coming, the athlete crossing with family members must let them go first and wait for a time when there are no other athletes coming, and it is safe to cross without interfering with others.
Immediately after crossing the finish-line the family members must exit the finish-line zone, not being allowed to stay, or share the recover zone with the rest of the athletes.
HOW TO ACCESS THE FINISH-LINE:
At the start of the finish-line straightway there is a TENT set up with staff that will give you access when your teammates are coming, or when a family member racing is coming. You should only enter this area / tent, approximately 1 minute before the athlete comes. It is the responsibility of the teammates or family members to be there at the right time in order to be granted access to cross the finish-line with the athlete.
SPECIAL FINISH-LINE FINISHER MEDAL ACCESS:
The organization may grant access for a family member to access the are to give the athlete crossing the finish-line, his or hers finisher medal, however, it must be for a compelling reason at the discretion of the organization only and the request must be submitted in writing ahead of time (not less than one week before race day). Compelling reasons would be, but not limited to, an athlete asking their partner in marriage, a grand-daughter giving a medal to the grand-mother, a recovering cancer athlete being given a medal by a family member, etc.
WORLD FINALS QUALIFICATION PROCESS:
Finals slots allocation is under the base guideline of hosting a maximum number, for safety reasons, and event experience, of 2.500 participants in the finals. Direct slot allocation criteria by age-group depends on the total number of series qualifying events and from event to event according to men and women total numbers and percentages.
To ensure fairness and transparency in the process, TRITON uses, as a guideline, the D’Hondt method for the mathematically order.
In addition, TRITON offers and innovative system allowing every participating athlete an equal chance to go to the finals.
We call it, EVERYONE IS AN ATHLETE, qualifying process.
HOW IT WORKS: A % of slots, TO BE DETERMINED, and announced, depending on total slots availability. will be offered on a first come serve basis, giving everyone an equal chance to participate in the series finals event. These slots will be offered on a specific date to be announced, but only to athletes that have taken part in an official series event.
WHY WE DO THIS?
Because anyone can have a bad day on a qualifying attempt and not finish in the top slots. And because we believe everyone should have an equal chance, to at least once, participate in a finals event with the same odds as everyone else.
OPEN RACE:
If the number of qualified athletes permits, TRITON will offer an open race, NOT QUALIFYING FOR THE FINALS CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS at a date to be announce. Participants taking part in the open race will have the exact same conditions and perks except for the finals title. They will be awarded in the OPEN DIVISION, TOP 5 FEMALE AND MALE, OVERALL, BY RACE DISTANCE, SHORT, MIDDLE, AND LONG, ONLY.
QUALIFYING RACES:
All races bearing the stamp featured here will be, qualifier events.
AWARDS / CEREMONY:
All finisher athletes will receive a finisher medal and t-shirt.
Mix&match on TRITON 1, and TRITON 3 single events participants, receive a medal and a participation t-shirt, NOT a TRITON finisher t-shirt. TRITON 1 1 Mix&Match medal has written „MIX&MATCH“ and not any specific distance.
PODIUM CEREMONY:
Both TRITON 1 and TRITON 3 award the TOP 3 male and female of every division in all distances of the individual competitions.
Podium ceremony is for TOP 5 overall male and female of the SHORT, MIDDLE, and LONG distances, ONLY, plus both TOP 5 Teams divisions.
Additional to TRITON Global rules also apply all local governing body rules and laws, and TRITON’s code of conduct.
All disputes and arising situations not on the race specific competitions regulations will be decided by a collegiate of the local governing body and the race director.
