PRESS RELEASE – TRITON WORLD SERIES GRAND FINAL
The first edition of the TRITON CHAMPIONSHIP took place this past weekend, October 24th–26th, 2026, in Portimão, Algarve, bringing together athletes from 17 nations.
The event featured five competitions:
- the women’s and men’s SPRINT distance (1 km swim – 36 km bike – 7 km run),
- the women’s and men’s MIDDLE distance (2 km swim – 72 km bike – 14 km run),
- the women’s and men’s LONG distance (3 km swim – 108 km bike – 21 km run),
in addition to a Corporate Race and the final stage and coronation of the global ranking across all three distances, for both women and men.

The Global Ranking is based on the cumulative points earned by athletes throughout the season by participating in official TRITON qualifying races.
The Championship Final represents the closing stage of the season and awards the highest number of points of all events.
The weekend also featured a family and kids promotional event, adding to the festival atmosphere.
Notably, two athletes from Portimão—one male and one female—won the SPRINT distance final. Both entered the competition through wild card invitations granted by the organization.
The TRITON CHAMPIONSHIP officially marks the end of the 2026 season.
The 2027 calendar and the next Championship host destination will be announced in November.
